Boley watch makers lathe rescue, updated 30.08.2014

Workshop > Handcrafted
In July 2014, I discovered a Boley watchmaker's lathe in the cellar of my watchmaker's shop. It had been stored there for an extended period, predating the current owner's tenure. Recognizing the need to preserve this valuable piece of machinery, I undertook several restoration measures. I constructed a new plywood box for the lathe, treated the components with WD40, removed rust from certain parts using electrolysis, and cleaned others with Tickopur TR3 in an ultrasonic cleaner. Additionally, I acquired an old handwheel to facilitate operation and handling of the machine.
